Department Profile
Mathematics is defined as the science of quantity and the field of knowledge. It provides us an unlimited scope to perceive problems under three situations-Concrete, Abstract and Intuition. The field of Mathematics today offer, virtually unlimited opportunities for application together with the aesthetic appeal and intellectual challenge and resolving issues in almost any field.
The Department of Mathematics has the privilege of producing outstanding women (under)graduates since 1985. It has been offering PG programme since 2003. Growing steadily the department also offers facilities for research work leading to Ph.D degree in different field of pure and applied mathematics. It has been marching towards becoming a holistic research department from 2015.
Learning for all is intended to focus on the learning of Mathematics. This is reflected in the large number of careers for which mathematical knowledge is considered to be particularly desirable preparation.
In the academic years 2009-2010, 2014-2015, 2015-2016 B.Sc Mathematics course and in the year 2015-2016 M.Sc Mathematics courses were granted for additional sections by the university.
The department has a group of highly motivated students and well-qualified faculty and has been able to elevate itself into a center of excellence in Pure and Applied Mathematical disciplines.
